5am on Saturday morning I jumped out of bed, which is hard to do at 9 months pregnant. Nick woke up and wanted to know if everything was ok. I told him yes, but my water broke. He wanted to go to the hospital right away. I tried explaining that we had plenty of time since I wasn't having any contractions. I called my obgyn after hours line to see what we should do and they said they would have the Dr call me back... they never did. I believe the on call Dr was in a cesarian. We both took a shower and I packed my hospital bag, I know last minute. The hospital is an hour and 15 min away so we decided to head out at 6am. We made a stop at Dunkin Doughnuts and on the way out of the car my flip flop broke! So, we went to CVS and Nick got me a new pair of flip flops and some pads because I was currently wearing washcloths in my underwear. We got to the hospital a little after 7 am. They hooked me up to a machine to moniter the babys heart rate and my contractions. Turns out I was having contractions I just couldn't feel them. They also checked to see if my water had broken, it had. Then they sent us to Labor and Delivery and started me on pitocen. Now I could really feel the contractions, but I decided not to have an epidural yet. I was only 2cm dilated. At 8pm I was only 4 cm dilated and EXTREMELY uncomfortable so I asked for the epidural. The anesthegiologist was in surgery and it took her almost an hour to come up. When she did I was ready to kiss her. The epidural was wonderful! It felt so weird when they put it in. I no longer had any pain. The next time they checked me I was 9 cm dilated. They gave me oxygen to keep the babys heart rate up. Around 2am I told them I felt ready to push and I was shaking and in pain because my epidural wore off. They had me hold my breath and push for 10 seconds and repeat 3x for each contraction. I was practically hyperventilating between contractions because I couldn't catch my breath. They kept telling me I was pushing great, but I didn't believe them. I thought they were just saying that to motivate me. Almost 2 hours later I pushed him out. I couldnt believe it. It was amazing. He was born 7 lbs 13 oz, 21 1/2 inches long at 4:21am on Sunday May 24th his due date. My Dr was great the nurses and staff were fantastic. We just got home the day before yesterday and we are so in love!

One down Nine to go!
We had our Dr. appointment on Thursday and we are one cm dilated! Woohoo! Things are beginning to start.
We also had an ultrasound. We asked the ultrasound technician to verify that Anthony is still a boy, since we haven't had a peek since 20 weeks. She confirmed that yes we are still having a boy. They estimate him to weigh 7 lbs and 15 oz... but, they did say there is a margin of error of one pound in either direction. So, he could be anywhere from 7 - 9 lbs.
